Whitby Gothic Weekend

Originally started by a group of penpals in 1994, the Whitby Goth Festival has blossomed into a bi-annual event which attracts some of the best bands of the gennre, supporting both local businesses and charities as well as being a national gathering of like minded souls from across the UK and all over the world, being one of the most popular events of it's kind in the annual calendar. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whitby_Gothic_Weekend
You'll find loads of events around the town, but most are held at the Whitby Pavilion including the Bizarre Bazaar Goth Market Other venues such as The Metropole are used for overspill and unofficial events, plus there's an unofficial football match held between goth attendees and members of the local newspaper, the Whitby Gazette.
