Some telly folks from Come Dine With Me have e-mailed us, they're doing a show in Sheffield and are looking for awesome people to cook stuff and maybe win money - ooooooooh! The message is below, for anyone who may be interested =)

We are making a new, daytime series of the hit TV show; Come Dine With Me For Channel 4 And we are looking for people from YOUR area to take part in the series. Do you love cooking and having people over to your house for dinner? We're looking for anyone over 18 years old, from any walk of life, who feels they have what it takes to throw a great dinner party! The hugely successful C4 series Come Dine With Me follows FIVE strangers, all budding chefs, as they take it in turns to try and prepare the best meal, be the best host and hold the best all-round dinner party for the others. The best host at the end of the competition wins £1000 cash! We are filming a new show soon in YOUR area and we are looking for people to take part. Steampunk!

Steampunk is currently hitting the alt scene in Britain with some force and influence, our neighbours accross the pond have already had several steampunk conventions and themed balls and events, and it looks ready to take England by storm! Clubs in London have hosted some themed events and Steampunk band Abney Park were a massive hit at this April's Whitby Goth Weekend, are you ready for the steam powered revolution?

Originating from fictional works published in the 60's and 70's, but not becoming widely known until the early 1990's, Steampunk is a world all too similar to our own. Often set in Victorian periods or worlds totally dedicated to steam power, the genre has seen some interesting influence and wonderful movies, stories and music appear based around the idea of steam or spring powered technology. Air ships fly the skies, science is conducted with analog computers rather than the modern PC of today, weapons are made from springs and cogs and powered by steam. If things had taken a different turn during the Victorian period, the modern world could easily be similar to this!

As for fashion Steampunks tend to wear Victorian style clothing but with a modern industrial influence. Womenswear tends to consist of ruffled and layered skirts, corsets and blouses or shirts while men have baggy pirate style trousers, shirts and waistcoats. Colour themes revolve around browns, blacks, creams, gold and white, and the more brass accessories the better! Many people have taken to making their own jewellery and gadgets to complement these fantastic outfits, but if you aren't a wizard in the workshop, don't fret! Alchemy are here to save the day!

So we've been doing some filming in the Rocky Horrors Sheffield store, just to give all you online peeps a glimpse into the lives of the Rocky minions. This is us, hard at work selling gothic clothing and the like on a Saturday afternoon, also featuring some of our lovely (and often weird) customers!
